Although the camp premises are occupied throughout the summer months, we do offer facility rentals from late August though mid-June. Camp Miriam is the perfect location for your next event, whether it is a seminar, a conference, a reunion, or a camp itself!

Camp Miriam is nestled on the breathtaking shores of beautiful Gabriola Island, located a mere 20 minute ferry ride from the city of Nanaimo. The camp spans over 20 acres of stunning, lush greenery unique to British Columbia and provides its visitors with a secluded, quaint space to run activities.

The central camp building includes several large multi-purpose rooms, bathrooms, a brand new, state-of-the-art kitchen, and a large dining hall with windows overlooking the serenity of Pilot Bay.

Our heated cabins have built-in bunk beds and are able to accommodate 80 – 100 people at a time. The property also includes a large washroom with a shower complex that is centrally located for all the surrounding cabins.

We also have a full size swimming pool on the premises (available during summer months only), as well as a sports field, a basketball court and a new children’s playground. All of these locations are lighted to permit nighttime use.

Directions to Gabriola Island

From Vancouver:

The fastest route to Gabriola by foot or vehicle is via the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal, situated just north of West Vancouver following Hwy 1.

The sailing times from this location are fairly frequent and the sailing time is approximately 1 hour 35 minutes. For more information please visit the BC Ferries website, or call them at 1-888-223-3779.

Once you arrive at Departure Bay ferry terminal in Nanaimo, follow the signs to Nanaimo City Centre and to the Gabriola ferry terminal situated opposite the Port Place Mall. The ferry terminals are quite close to each other so the drive is only about 5 minutes. From there you will need to take the Gabriola Island ferry, which runs approximately once an hour, and the sailing time is about 20 minutes.

Once you are on Gabriola, take your first left on Taylor Bay road. Follow this road for approximately 4.5km, then turn left onto Berry Point road. The camp address is:

The trip to Gabriola from Victoria is roughly 120km and takes approximately 2.5 hours by vehicle. From Victoria, head north on Hwy-1/Trans-Canada Hwy towards the city of Nanaimo. Once you have entered Nanaimo, take a right at Esplanade, and then a left on front Street. You will see the Gabriola Ferry terminal on your right across from the Port Place Mall. From there, follow same directions as listed above.

By Floatplane:

Another great option for getting to the Island is by air, either to Gabriola directly or to Nanaimo, from where you can walk to the Gabriola ferry terminal in just 5 minutes. Harbour Air (1-800-665-0212) and Baxter Air (604-683-6525) offer scheduled flights from downtown Vancouver to downtown Nanaimo. Tofino Air flies from Vancouver Airport to Silva Bay on Gabriola.
